Weekly Article Roundup

Some new articles I’ve found interesting reads this week…

  • How I built my home office for maximum productivity | Remote – I love reading about other people’s home office setups. I’m in the process of renovating my own home office and enjoy looking for inspiration.
  • We’re All Socially Awkward Now – this article from NYT provides some very interesting insight into the effects quarantine has on us socially and behaviorally, down to the evolution as to why we crave live social interaction.
  • NFTs are a dangerous trap – well, the topic of NFTs blew up overnight. Seth Godin provides a useful perspective on the topic. What seems like a good concept in providing digital authenticity on ownership over original digital art (at least in my opinion), has turned into another tool for speculation and overall crypto hype.
  • Schedule Yourself Some Alone Time – not only do we feel lonely, but we also feel “alonely” (as this article describes). We need time to socialize, but we also need time to be alone with ourselves. The environment we’re in has us simultaneously craving social interaction, but also cooped up with those we live with, emphasizing the need for alone time.
  • Mistwalker’s New RPG Fantasian Coming To Apple Arcade – I just love Hironobu Sakaguchi’s work (he’s the creator of the Final Fantasy series), and am excited to hear we’ll be seeing something of his come to Apple Arcade.
  • Terry Crews Has His Own Cryptocurrency Because Why Not? – another reading on crypto. In this case, a celebrity is creating their own Social Currency (which is somewhat like cryptocurrency, kind of like a gift card…but this article describes it way better). I appreciate the creativity behind adopting another application for the blockchain and crypto, but these ideas seem very speculative in nature, and all seem to benefit the speculators, not the actual consumer…the ones who actually spend currency.
